I don't think I ever did this and since I'm sitting here waiting for the Hub to log in for our daily long distance chat, I thought I'd kill some time.

Are you married/single? married

What do you do to earn you a living? Domestic Goddess doing it for the glory of a job well done (ha..just don’t look under the couch, or the sinks...ceiling fans. In fact..just close your eyes. You’ll be much happier).

What's you favorite movie? Oooo…too many to name. I’ve been wanting to see Auntie Mame and Stage Door again recently.

Do you garden? No, we move to frequently to commit to plants.

If so, do you compost? See above

How many snow globes do you own? None that I remember. But at least half of our stuff is in storage at all times.

Do you own a thigh master? Not since 1987.

Dogs or Cats? Both, but don’t own any currently. See the plant question.

What is the last CD you bought? Tori Amos – Abnormally Addicted to Sin.

How many cookbooks do you own? I don’t think I can count that high.  Including magazines, perhaps 50-75.

What's your favorite one? I reference Joy of Cooking – 75th Ann. Edition the most, IJHFTF second most for techniques. My favorites for recipes are a couple of charity compilations, one by an area church, another by an philanthropic sorority. My favorite to read is one I picked up in London at a book fair under a bridge called “Cherry Cake and Ginger Beer: A Golden Treasury of Classic Treats” by Jane Brocket.

Last tool you purchased for your kitchen? New set of wooden spoons.

How long have you been watching GE? Almost since the beginning.

What’s your favorite episode? I’m having a hard time picking one…so I’m going to say the Big Chili and the Grits/cornmeal episodes – I love the characters.

Favorite and least favorite AB recipes? Errrr…I watch more for the techniques that then recipes – but I’ll say The Chewy Chocolate Chip cookies and ribs for favorite…and least fave? Well, I don’ t like seafood, so as fun and informative as the eps maybe the recipes do nothing for me.

Cookies: Flat, Chewy, or Puffy? Cheeeeeeeeeeewy.

Brine or no brine? Brine.

Is stuffing evil? Not if done right. But we’re more “dressin’” folks anyway.

Texas: never been or dying to go? Been there, done that. Going back as soon as The Hub is home and Tiny officially joins the family.

What do you consider BBQ/Barbeque? I consider it the true ambrosia of the Gods.

Gas or charcoal? Both

Chile or chili? Yes, please.

Do you put beans in your chili? Yes and no. No for myself; I prefer Texas chili (but I do like tomatoes); The Hub likes his loaded with lots of stuff, so I usually wind up making two batches.

What do you like to cook? Currently – anything that won’t make mah pregnant belly sick. In general, pretty much anything. Pasta, glazed baked chicken, steaks and chili are usually my go to’s In “normal” times.

Do you save your rendered bacon fat? Sometimes.

What is your libation preference (brand, too)? When I’m not knocked up, amaretto sours.

What's your favorite beer? Don’t drink beer (please don’t kick me off the board).

Red or green Tabasco? Red

Cornbread: sugar or no? I’m in the category of “I don’t care”.

What is your favorite cheese? Buffalo mozzarella. Preferably eaten at a small trattoria anywhere in Italy.

Butter or Margarine? BUTTER!!!

Do you like PIE or cake? Yes

Bread: bake it or buy it? Usually buy. Rental kitchen sucks for baking space.

What is the number one food that gives you the willies? Offal, insects, balut

Brining is easy. I've never brined a turkey, but I've brined lots of pork chops and chicken breasts and even some shrimp. Usually, it's just warm water (or tea or apple juice), some kosher salt, and some sugar. Stick the meat in and refrigerate for a few hours. I don't usually bother with spices or herbs or other seasonings. Works great any way.

Thanks for the post Ditsy. The only problem with brining in our house is that my husband is a type 2 diabetic, so I avoid sugar as much as possible. I did ask Alton about that when I met him, and he told me to use Splenda, but to only use about a third the amount. I emailed Shirley Corriher about it via her website, and she told me I could just leave it out. I worry about too much salt in our diets too (high blood pressure runs in hubby's family). Alton must not have that problem, he seems to heavily salt things. Maybe with his new diet, he'll be cutting down on that. I"d love to see him do shows about special foods like Splenda, and other diet specific substitutions people can use in their daily diets. The American Diabetic Association has recipes that actually have fructose in them, I was surprised.

Are you married/single?
Married as of this Talk Like a Pirate Day.

What do you do to earn you a living?
I'm a grad student working to become a professor.

What's you [sic] favorite movie?
Um... I don't really watch movies anymore, so I can't recall. I guess, The Last Unicorn? It's the only movie I can think of that was more than 75% true to the book.

Do you garden?
I have an onion on my porch because it sprouted in the kitchen, if that counts.

If so, do you compost?
I don't think the homeowner's association would let me, but I'd like to.

How many snow globes do you own?
None. Last one I owned broke on me.

Do you own a thigh master?
No, but I vaguely recall what a "thigh master" is. Last I checked, no one truly mastered their thighs.

Dogs or Cats? Cats before dogs, but I love rabbits most.

What is the last CD you bought?
Rush's Snakes and Arrows

How many cookbooks do you own?
20, and 4 of them are Alton Brown's.

What's your favorite one?
I'm Just Here For More Food, because I bake more than I cook.

Last tool you purchased for your kitchen?
IKEA pots. Don't let the umlauts fool you. Had to trash one because it broke on the bottom from heat.

How long have you been watching GE?
Gee. I had to have been in middle school, I think. Let's assume 2000.

What’s your favorite episode?
I'm sure it's said a lot, but The Dough Also Rises. The grandma angle gets me every time.

Favorite and least favorite AB recipes?
Favorite is the Grilled Romaine in Good Wine Gone Bad. My least favorite would have to be Scrap Iron Chef's Bacon because I just in general really dislike that episode.

Cookies: Flat, Chewy, or Puffy?
Chewy.

Brine or no brine?
Brine, of course!

Is stuffing evil?
Nope, not if done right.

Texas: never been or dying to go?
Never been. I don't know what to make of the state, especially when Austin's thrown into the mix.

What do you consider BBQ/Barbeque?
It's nice, but I generally steer clear of meat heavy items. Just... so much meat. I can't handle the meaty masses. I do like a mustard-based BBQ sauce, though.

Gas or charcoal?
Gas. I'm a little leery of charcoal with all that soot stuff and the carcinogens that can be generated and yadda yadda yadda...

Chile or chili?
Chile. Mostly in salsa.

Do you put beans in your chili?
Yeah, because my household prefers white chicken chili (my husband tries to cut down on red meat consumption) and that dish NEEDS beans.

What do you like to cook?
Under my grandmother's tutelage, I gained proficiency in the baking arts, so I mostly aim at the creaming, muffin, and biscuit methods as well as custard work. I pretty much can't make much that's not guided by my sweet tooth.

Do you save your rendered bacon fat?
My husband gives me a look of disgust when I discuss this, so no.

What is your libation preference (brand, too)?
Hard call. Depends on the mood. Shock Top's a great beer for both cooking and drinking. Sometimes I feel like Hennessey, but recently I've been enjoying Kahlua mixed with whole milk. Call me crazy. When I have rice wine, I prefer the Korean Sansachun.

What's your favorite beer?
Shock Top, as mentioned above, but I generally enjoy any ale.

Red or green Tabasco?
...They have two kinds?

Cornbread: sugar or no?
In my grandmother's kitchen, this question would get morphed into Jiffy or Ballard. Sadly, I have yet to make cornbread from scratch, but I guess I'll say without sugar.

What is your favorite cheese?
Ooh. That's a tough decision. I like Dubliner brand, Brie, Camembert, Ricotta, Neufchatel, Muenster, and probably a couple more I've forgotten. I really like cheese.

Butter or Margarine?
Butter. Eat the real stuff and throw out those trans fats!

Do you like PIE or cake?
Cake. I grew up on cake.

Bread: bake it or buy it?
Bake it when we can, buy it when we can't. We at least don't get the 90% air white sliced bread.

What is the number one food that gives you the willies?
Sadly, fried shrimp heads. I love the flavor, but I've been getting quite a few that are more than a little gooshy on the inside, and that's kinda getting to me. I try to be good about eating new foods, but I'm very picky about texture. I generally start gagging when the texture's off, so at least I'm not totally to blame, right? ^.^;

I"m the last person to be a "yuppie", but I know there are other cheeses besides Cheddar. Actually, there's a cheese I used to buy called Double Gloucester that is suppose to be like cheddar and is wonderful. Provolone, good old American, Mozzarella (whole milk, not that skim milk crap), and those spreadable blends are all I eat. I can't bring myself to eat a cheese that stinks more than my dog's food, so I pass on those. I never got the big deal about Swiss, I don't like it's aftertaste. But this comes from a woman who loathes peppers and onions, so my opinion doesn't mean much.

BTW, nobody is going to shoot you if you don't answer the questions, no reason to get so hostile about it.
